Law #7: The Law of Example

1 Corinthians 11:1 (NIV) Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.

  1. Who has been an example to you—in any arena—that has inspired you? Who is one person you admire and why?
  2. Who has been an example of consistent Christian living for you?
  3. Does it sound a bit arrogant for someone to say, “Follow my example; live like I live”?
  4. Here is a site you might find helpful in bible Study: https://www.openbible.info/labs/cross-references/ At this site, enter 1 Corinthians 11.1. What other verses can you find?
  5. Why are human examples important? Why can’t we just follow the example of Christ?
  6. Have you ever been disappointed in a human example? What are we to do when that happens?
  7. What is the difference between following and example and putting someone on a pedestal?
  8. Would you feel comfortable saying to a new believer, “Follow my example as I follow the example of Christ”? Why or why not?
  9. When you think of being Christlike, what qualities come to mind?
  10. When you think of following the example of Christ, do you think of the day that Jesus turned over tables? Why or why not?
  11. How can we pray for each other this week?
